Costanoa 11/13 & 11/14

We arrived at Costanoa around 4:30 PM. While we were checking in Bruce & Sherry arrived. We both got checked in and settled into our sites. Bruce & Sherry are directly across from us. Once we were all settled in my brother, Bruce and SIL Soon arrived. We hung out at Bruce & Sherry's for happy hour, then each of us went to our separate RV's for dinner.

After dinner, about 7:30 PM Ray & I took the puppies for a walk and ran into Newton & Rose arriving at the campground entrance. After they got parked in a site we met their friends, Greg & Isabella.

While Newton, Rose and friends got set up and ate dinner, the rest of us went to the comfort station and enjoyed a nice fire in the fireplace, using the firewood KOA had provided. We hung out until about 8:30 and then we all went back to our own RV's. Ray & I took the puppies for one more long walk before calling it a night.

The next morning the weather was kind of weird. One minute it was blue skies and sunshine, the next minute it was overcast and cloudy and looked like it was going to rain. At 11 AM, we decided to go to Pescadero. Newton & Rose rode with Greg & Isabella in their car. While Sherry & I rode with Bruce & Soon. Bruce B. and Ray stayed behind at camp to hold the fort down!

The eight of us went to the Harley Goat Farm, saw the goats and enjoyed goat cheese tasting. Then we were off to downtown Pescadero to the local Market/Bakery for some fresh out of the oven (it was still HOT) artichoke & garlic French bread!

Back at camp, Sherry fixed her cream of artichoke soup and I made grilled ham & cheese sandwiches for all for lunch. Yum, it was all good, especially Sherry's soup!

After lunch, Bruce & Sherry, Ray & I took a nice long walk (without the dogs). We checked out the little store, the bar & grill as well as the lodge and the little platform tents the lodge had.

We hung around camp the rest of the afternoon. It was nippy enough that we started a fire at camp before the sun went down. Bruce & Sherry's kids arrived about 5 PM to surprise Sherry for her birthday!

We all grilled our own meat and brought a dish to share that evening for dinner. After dinner we celebrated Sherry's b day with a big birthday cake & ice cream the kids brought, a pumpkin cheese cake Bruce & Soon brought and a home made chocolate, chocolate trifle I made. YUM!!! All were good. We had so much dessert that we invited the guys tent camping next to us to come share. In the campsite next to us, there were 18 guys celebrating two guy's 40th b day!

We all enjoyed the campfire until about 10 PM when everyone turned in for the night!

The next morning was beautiful (of course, the day we go home) not a cloud in the sky. The sun was shinning brightly and it was warm enough that in the sun, you didn't need a coat or sweater. Bruce and Soon hit the road about 8 AM and were the first to leave.

Ray & I took the puppies for a nice long walk, enjoying the ocean views.

I fixed breakfast burrittos for Bruce & Sherry and Ray & I. We didn't see Newton & Rose for hours!

We hung out at camp with Bruce & Sherry all morning. Greg joined us about 10 AM after his long, long walk along the beach. About 11 AM we finally saw Newton & Rose and Isabella.

We packed up and hit the road at noon. It was a great weekend with great friends.

Next outing is in two weeks. Four nights at Coyote Lake for Thanksgiving!

Moss Landing Oct 23 & 24 2009

We arrived at Moss Landing KOA RV park about 4:40 PM on Friday afternoon. Ray & I got everything all set up and then we took the puppies for a walk. We took them over to the small doggie park behind the harbor office. It was a beautiful day, sun shinning and in about the low 70's. T-shirt weather!

Back at camp Ray got out the lounge chairs and we both enjoyed a glass of wine before walking over to "The Whole Enchilada" Mexican restaurant. Dinner was great, we sat outside in the patio area with the overhead heaters going. It's a nice spot, with several water fountains. We each had a couple of pina coladas, complete with a colorful tiny little mermaid hanging from the side of the glass!

Back at the RV we watched a little TV before calling it a night.

The puppies let us sleep in until almost 7:30!!! It sure felt good. While Ray took the dogs for another walk over to the doggie park, I got the coffee and tea pot started.

After breakfast Ray & I and Boomer & Petie Pie took a nice long walk along the state beach (dogs aren't allowed on the beach). We walked along a trail that ran along the dunes (we couldn't see the beach). The trail also followed along the Salinas River and marsh area. The fog was quick thick that morning. We walked from one state beach parking lot to the next state beach parking lot and then back again.

We hung out at camp for awhile, before walking over to Phil's Fish Market & Restaurant for lunch. Ray had a shrimp salad and I had a big bowl of clam chowder and we shared a plate of calamari. All was GOOD!

We hung out at camp the rest of the day, taking several more walks around the park and the adjoining harbor with the dogs.

We had site #45 - a great site, right in the corner. From the back of our site we could see through the chain linked fence. We had a great view of the back end of the harbor and "The Whole Enchilada" restaurant. It was also a nice view from our 5er rear picture window. At one time we could see a sea otter playing around in the water.

Unfortunately it was foggy all day. It tried to burn off around noon, we saw a little bit of blue sky and then it fogged over again.

I cooked dinner that night and then we watched a Netflix movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" it was "OK" not our kind of movie at all.

Sunday morning the puppies let us sleep in until almost 7:30 again!!!

After a leisurely breakfast we started cleaning up and readying to leave. We were on the road by 9:50 AM and had the 5er back to storage by 10:30 AM. We unpacked everything and got back home before 11:00 AM. It was a nice relaxing weekend! We had a good time.

SAL Rally Oct. 9th & 10th

It was another successful SAL rally with 13 rigs in attendance! A good time was had by all!

On Thursday, Oct. 8th, Ray & I worked a half day. We left home a little after 1PM and arrived at San Antonio Lake about 4 PM. YAY, it was still light out and we didn't have to set up in the dark!!

Steve & Terry, Eldon & Nancy were already there. We spent a nice quiet evening together.

The next morning after breakfast, Ray and I started gearing up for the rest of the gang. Everyone pitched in and helped. We hung the SAL Rally banner and set up the picnic tables up for a group gathering.

If you organize it.........they will come. We had a steady stream of arrivals all day. The last three rigs arrived about 8 PM. Several of us helped guide them into their sites with flashlights. All attendees received a welcome goody bag when they arrived. They were filled with all sorts of goodies either donated by a couple of organizations. Or they were purchased by me with the $$ donated by the attendees. There was some good stuff in there!

We woke up to an overcast sky, but it wasn't cold. Jill & Bill fixed banana pancakes, with homemade boysenberry syrup and bacon on their big outdoor grill for everyone. It was really nice not to have to cook breakfast, but extra nice that I didn't have to wash any dishes. Thanks Jill and Bill!!

After the overcast sky burned off on Saturday morning, it was nice and sunny and the temperature was just right, not hot or cold, just right! The lake is really low, three years of drought hasn't helped, but the farmers in the area needed water for irrigation, so the lake has been opened up for them. Hopefully this winter we will have a normal rain fall and next fall we will see a nice full lake!

At 1 PM we had an ice cream social potluck. Several people brought ice cream while others brought all the fixings. YUM!!!!

Saturday night Head Grill Master Newton, grilled up our tri-tip to perfection, along with his grill helpers Steve and my DH, Ray. The side dishes and deserts were pot luck. There was plenty of GREAT food to go around. Every one's food was wonderful and nobody starved. Robin has recently taken up the art of Dutch Oven (DO) cooking and delighted us all with a couple of wonderful DO pot full of yummy delights. I LOVED the potato dish she fixed on Friday night!

After dinner we voted for funniest t-shirt. The majority of the votes went to Eldon and Cheryl. Eldon taking the lead by one vote with Cheryl in second place. Eldon's "SAL-A-Holic" t-shirt was hilarious and created by his SO Nancy.

Next was our traditional "White Elephant Bingo" where everyone goes home with a prize! All players contribute at least one white elephant to the swap table. Each player gets to select a white elephant on their first bingo of each game. The first person to get a black out wins a special gift wrapped prize. Our blackout winners were:

Eldon - Cobra walkie talkies and a gift certificate for "Good Sam" membership renewal

Steve - Grilling temperature fork, grill lighters and a Camping Cookbook

Bill - Memory Board and a $25.00 gift certificate to CampingWorld

Michelle - Gourmet flavored marshmallows, telescoping grilling forks, chocolate coated shortbread cookies and a gift certificate for "Trailer Life" magazine

After Bingo we enjoyed the time around the campfire before retiring for the evening.

Sunday morning most of us were busy with breakfast and packing up and readying for our trip back home. Jill & Bill and Nancy & Eldon extended their stay for one more night and left on Monday.

We left SAL about 10:30 AM and after several short stops, dropping the 5er off at our storage lot we were home about 2 PM. It was a great rally, we had a wonderful time and it's now time to start planning the next one Feb. 12th & 13th 2010!
